Minimum Education/Certification:
"Non Degreed Tutor" - High School Graduate, will receive $15 per hour
"Degreed Tutor" - Bachelors Degree, will receive $20 per hour
"Certified/Retired Teacher" - Texas Teacher Certification and/or retired Texas teacher, will receive $25 per hour
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective verbal and written communications skills as well as a high degree of literacy and higher order thinking skills
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgement are required
Work effectively and harmoniously with students and school personnel is essential
Ability to instruct a small group of students
Working knowledge of the grade level(s)/subject(s) assigned
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office/educational equipment including personal computer, tablets, Smart Board, etc.
Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing and walking; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions
Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)
Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions in a variety of educational settings and maintain professional demeanor under stress; Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise
Regular attendance is an essential function.
Minimum Experience:
Experience instructing students in a classroom environment
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provide direct instruction to assigned students.
- Plan for lessons to be taught in small or individual groups.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
- Analyze individual student progress and data to make instructional decisions.
- Develop and maintains resources to support the students.
- Establish and maintain effective classroom management and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, administrative regulations, and campus management plans.
- Participate in training and staff development as needed.
- Establish with students a rapport that is friendly, but not familiar.
- Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
- Keep the teacher informed of student progress.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members through effective communication both verbally and written.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep the teacher informed of interactions with students.
- Be flexible in working with all students.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
- Performs such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
