Description

Primary Purpose:

Assist in receiving, storing, issuing and delivering of equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining inventory control, and doing the required recordkeeping.  Assist with in-district and outgoing mail in accordance to United States Postal service regulations.

 

Qualifications:

 

            Education/Certification

            High School Diploma or GED

            Valid Texas Driver’s License

 

            Special Knowledge/Skills

            Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment

            Ability to operate personal computer

            Ability to read supply requisitions and perform basic arithmetic

            Ability to operate light truck

 

Experience

Experience with deliveries and inventory control procedures 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

            Receiving

  1. Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
  2. Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.

 

Inventory

  1. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment such as a fork lift and light truck.
  2. Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  3. Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical count periodically, and check against inventory control totals using a computer.
  4. Requisition additional supplies from purchasing department as needed.
  5. Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily.

 

Distribution

  1. Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
  2. Drive truck to various locations to deliver materials. Obtain authorized signature for supplies requested.
  3. Load and unload delivery truck by hand or by use of handtruck.

 

Safety

  1. Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles according to prescribed safety procedures.
  2. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  3. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  4. Detect needed repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.

 

Other

  1. Participate in staff development to improve job-related skills.
  2. Display professionalism in dealing with supervisors, parents, staff, and community.
  3. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously.
  4. Exemplify high standards of ethical conduct according to District Policy.
  5. Support administrative policy.
  6. Represent the school system to the community in a positive professional way.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Moderate walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.  Work outside and inside; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; exposure to dampness and humidity; work on ladders and scaffolding; expose to slippery and uneven surfaces.
