Description | Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and license in mental health (LPC or LCSW) conferred by the Texas Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
- Six (6) months experience in providing counseling and social services to children, preferred
- Solid knowledge of counseling best practices and procedures
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability and willingness to work on the school and district team
Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional, social, and developmental support to K-12 special education students on multiple campuses, including a residential facility
- Knowledge of counseling goals
- Knowledge of special education law, as it pertains to related services
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use a wide array of accepted theoretical approaches to improve students’ academic performance, social and emotional adjustment and lifetime success
- Demonstrated ability to not only interact and communicate effectively with students and their families but also with the larger school community of educators, administrators, counselors, and other professionals
- Ability to provide own transportation
- Ability to conduct counseling evaluations and determine appropriate services needed
- Other duties as assigned
