Description | QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Master's degree
- Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate or valid Texas license as a licensed specialist in school psychology (or enrolled in a practicum)
- Previous experience as an educational diagnostician or LSSP in a public school setting preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of evaluation procedures (achievement, intellectual, emotional, and behavioral), education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
- Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct evaluations and collaborate/coordinate with multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated evaluations within timelines, compliant with state and federal requirements
- Demonstrate high degree of knowledge, understanding, and skill regarding special education compliance mandated by federal regulations and state rules.
- Coordinate, schedule, and participate in ARD meetings
- Work with parents to help them understand the special education process
- Collaborate with local agencies, physicians, as needed
- Provide consultative assistance to teachers upon request (including academic and non-academic strategies, assistance with IEP goals and objectives, etc.)
- Respond to suggestions for improvement in a positive, growth-minded manner
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services
