QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of the following areas encompassing business management:  Finance, Accounting, Auditing, Purchasing, Cash Management, Employee Management, Insurance, Real Estate, and Budgeting
  • Ability to interpret federal and state laws, policy, procedures and data
  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that all business and support functions are supportive of the instructional goals and objectives of the district.
  • Effectively communicate with staff, community, media, and school board.
  • Reinforce achievement and expectations within the finance, accounting, and food service departments.
  • Analyze and develop improvements in the budgetary system of the district, including budget methods and techniques, format, and presentation.
  • Develop long-range financial planning projections and models given current and anticipated.
  • Assist the superintendent in the development of capital improvement programs and supervises the implementation of such programs and plans.
  • Supervise and work directly with the department directors in finance, accounting, and food service.
  • Arrange for the provision of key external services to the district, including auditing, banking, legal, property appraisal, tax collection, real estate, property maintenance and improvement, and insurance services.
  • Provide monthly accounting of all income and expenditures, and prepare and analyze all financial statements.
  • Assist the superintendent in the development of budget guidelines, coordinate preparation of the budget, and assist key administrators in the review of the annual budget.
  • Prepare analyses of budget requests and projections of revenues for the superintendent’s review.
  • Prepare and recommend to the school board amendments to the budget as required.
  • Prudently manage a portfolio of short term investments of the district’s surplus or unencumbered funds.
  • Ensure all bidding documents, including invitations for bids, instructions to bidders, specifications, and advertisement for bid are prepared appropriately prior to distribution.
  • Provide leadership for the development and implementation of the finance, accounting, and food service departments. 
  • Is directly accountable to the superintendent in the discharge of assigned duties and responsibilities and is accountable to the Board of Trustees through the Superintendent.
